Here in Third Grade we explore a variety of fiction and non fiction literature every day!
Treasures is the primary Poudre School District literacy resource. This resource provides tools for students to enhance and enrich their skills in writing, spelling, and reading comprehension. Our third grade team uses many of the resources from the program, but our focus is on best practice and adjusting the curriculum to meet the needs of each of our students. The Treasures curriculum includes a wide variety of rich literature for students and teachers to access. While Treasures is our primary source, we also pull from a variety of other high interest fiction and non-fiction sources in order to best meet the needs of our individual students and objectives.
In writing this year, we will be using Lucy Calkins Units of Study to guide our writing instruction. We will work on writing to a variety of audiences and in multiple formats. The following are the different genres of writing we will cover in third grade:
